Surah 63. Surah al Munafiqoon
Surah 63. Surah al Munafiqoon (The Hypocrites)
Bismillah ir Rahman ir Raheem
In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
- When the hypocrites come to you, they say:
“We bear witness that you are indeed a Messenger of Allah.”
And verily, Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger;
And Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars.
- They take their oaths as their shields,
And they stop (people) from the path of Allah;
Evil indeed is what they do.
- That because they believe, then they disbelieve,
And a seal is placed on their hearts,
So they cannot comprehend.
- And when you see them,
You are amazed at their appearance.
And when they speak, you listen to what they say—
They are like propped up sticks of wood.
They reckon that every sound is directed at them—
They are the enemy, so beware of them!
May Allah denounce them,
How they are deluded!
- And when it is said to them:
“Come! Let the Messenger of Allah ask for your forgiveness”,
They turn their heads away,
And you see them turn their faces away,
And they are arrogant.
- It is the same to them,
Whether you ask for their forgiveness,
Or you do not ask for their forgiveness,
Allah will not forgive them.
Indeed, Allah does not guide a people
Who break their covenants (with Allah).
- They are the ones who say:
“Do not spend on (support) those who are with the Messenger of Allah,
Until they break up.”
Lo! To Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth,
But the hypocrites comprehend it not!
- They say: “If we return to the city,
The most powerful (of the hypocrites)
Will surely expel the lowly (believers).”
But to Allah belongs all honor,
And to the Messenger and those certain of their faith,
But the hypocrites understand it not.
- O you who have certainty of faith!
Let not your wealth and your children,
Make you neglect the remembrance of Allah.
And one who does that,
Then, they—it is they who are among the lost ones.
- And spend of the provisions We bestow on you
Before death overtakes any of you,
When he will say: “O my Rabb!
Why did you not grant me a short respite,
So that I could give charity,
And be among the righteous.”
- But Allah never grants respite to a soul
When its time has come.
And Allah is aware of what you do.
